PROTECTING OUR FOOD SUPPLY & HEALTH :
A NEW RI GROUP IS WORKING TO HALT. THE CONTAMINATION & TAKEOVER OF OUR FOOD SYSTEM: FACTORY FARMS + GMOS + PESTICIDES = A DEADLY COMBINATION

A huge and dangerous threat to the quality, quantity & diversity our food supply is lurking – one that has the potential to contaminate and degrade our environment, soil and agricultural capabilities, to destroy small farmers, & to seriously damage our health and that of our kids. It's the triple threat of factory farming, toxic pesticides – and genetically modified crops. The latter especially can replace our food choices with food monopoly by a few corporations. Liberty Goodwin, Director of the Toxics Information Project (TIP), in Providence, is seeking to address these concerns by getting together with other Rhode Islanders to plan & carry out an educational & action program here. THE CONCERNS ABOUT FACTORY FARMING AND PESTICIDES ARE WELL-KNOWN! WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS WITH GMOS?

GETTING THE REAL STORY ABOUT GMOS – AND FINDING ALTERNATIVES

1. GMOs are unhealthy.
2. GMOs contaminate―forever.
3. GMOs increase herbicide use.
4. Genetic engineering creates dangerous side effects.
5. Government oversight is dangerously lax.
6. The biotech industry uses "tobacco science" to claim product safety.

**Support non-GMO and Organic farmers – and seed preservation.
**Educate politicians, food retailers and wholesalers on the need to resist corporate GMO/ pesticide pressures.
**Learn how to buy healthier food on a budget — & share that information widely.

Excerpt : In 2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) stated that, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with genetically modified (GM) food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, & changes in major organs & the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM has asked physicians to advise all patients to avoid GM foods.

People around the country are mobilizing to require that food containing genetically modified organisms be labeled as such. It is basically a “Right-to-Know” issue.

However, what’s all the fuss about? Are GMOs harmful? If not unhealthy for most people, should they be identified anyway, so the possible few who might react to them can avoid exposure? (As is done re: peanut, & dairy allergies). This little flyer gives you a quick read on the topic.
