URGE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO CO-SPONSOR
THE TOXIC CHEMICALS SAFETY ACT
FROM HEALTHYSTUFF.ORG: Representatives Bobby Rush (D-IL)
& Henry Waxman (D-CA) have introduced the Toxic Chemicals
Safety Act HR 5820, the strongest bill ever to protect our
families from toxic chemicals. As we enter into the busy
election season we need to keep up the drumbeat to reform
our broken chemicals law. The Toxic Chemicals Safety Act is
landmark legislation that would overhaul the way the government
protects people from toxic chemicals. It would put public
health first, provide better information to businesses, & help
consumers like you to avoid toxic chemicals in everyday products.
Your Representative needs to hear from you. Please urge your
Representative to co-sponsor the Toxic Chemicals Safety Act.

TOXIC CHEMICAL SAFETY FOR KIDS!
All children should be able to have a healthy start. Yet too many
are exposed to harmful chemicals in everyday products. It's long
past time to modernize our outdated chemical policies. Our outdated
system leaves children exposed to countless toxic chemicals every
day that put our families at risk for cancer, learning disabilities,
infertility, and more. Tell Congress to move quickly to update the
Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA)!

STAND UP FOR NATURAL FOODS AND SUPPLEMENTS
Target: U.S. Senate Sponsored by: Alliance for Natural Health USA
People seek natural medicine to ease colds, build strong bones,
improve digestion and stay healthy in many ways -- without mystery
chemicals. But now small natural food and supplement makers and
distributors are under attack. Recently, Senator Leahy introduced
a bill that would give the Federal Government more power to
threaten, silence and penalize the small makers & distributors
of natural foods and supplements. If this legislation passes,
these small natural food and supplement makers and distributors,
who have harmed no one, could be sentenced for up to ten years
in prison simply for telling a customer how a supplement or
vitamin might help her.
Urge your senators to oppose this misguided bill & leave small
natural food and supplement makers, and consumers, alone.

TELL TOYS “R” US AND WALL STREET TO STOP
PROFITEERING FROM TOXIC TOYS!
FROM CHEJ (Center for Health, Environment & Justice): Despite promises
to reduce toxic chemicals in toys, new testing shows that Toys “R”
Us
continues to sell products made out of polyvinyl chloride or PVC, the
poison plastic. Chemicals released during PVC’s lifecycle are linked
to chronic diseases on the rise in children including asthma, learning
disabilities, obesity & cancer. Now Wall Street bankers are set to
profit from the sale of this toxic asset! KKR, the private equity firm
that owns Toys “R” Us, plans to sell $800 million of its stock.
But, offloading Toys “R” Us without putting an end to toxic toys
will further entrench irresponsible business practices that put
children’s health at risk. Tell Toys “R” Us & Wall Street to stop
the public sale until the company agrees to label toxic toys &
eliminates poison plastic from its toys.
