**WHAT – AND HOW – IS IT BEST TO SHARE? As indicated in previous issues, we are in a time with huge numbers of concerns related to toxicity. And, I am very aware of how people are dealing with much information from various sources. So, I have been trying to keep TIP useful –and convenient for busy people. Here are my latest thoughts:
1. Continue to offer brief examples of a variety useful news & info in TT each month.
2. Ask TIP Talks readers to let me know which particular concerns are really important to them – such that I might be able to send out specific quick E-Mails on such topics once or twice a month – only to those who really care about the topics addressed. This would allow me to provide more useful info without overloading the regular Tip Talks
WHAT’S IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW: Although Covid is still a major focus for all, it is clear to me & others that EMFs are especially rising in urgency. However, since I’ve been focusing a lot on that in previous issues, this one includes a number of other real concerns/topics. In fact, just because they are not found that much in the mainstream media, the billions of toxins to which we are exposed in everyday life and products are still there – and they matter. It is not just Covid that sickens people.
** TELL ME WHICH TOPICS YOU ARE MOST INTO! The most likely few topics for occasional quick article sharing would seem to be , , Electronic Radiation Exposure, Pesticides, Household & Personal Toxins, Covid & Vaccines. As always, I will provide chances for action, ways to avoid harm, and Good News/Progress. We invite TIP TALKS readers to contact us about their extra info preferences. And, as before, we would also continue to welcome info their own experiences with toxins in daily life & healthier alternatives. I would love to hear from you – by E-Mail or phone!

81 ORGANIZATIONS URGE PA SUPREME COURT TO REJECT SMART METERS MANDATE
On Tuesday, 9/14/21, the Children’s Health Defense (under my direction) filed an amicus brief in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The case at issue concerns a 2008 Pennsylvania law, Act 129, which has been interpreted by the Public Utility Commission to mandate wireless smart meters on homes and deny disability accommodation to those suffering from exposure to pulsed radiofrequency (RF) radiation.The amicus brief was joined by 80 safe-tech and environmental organizations, including the Building Biology Institute which was a lead amici. The brief and the statements that were filed with it may be very helpful to anyone who is involved in efforts against smart meter mandates and requests for disability accommodation. STUDY IDENTIFIES NEARLY 300 CHEMICALS, MANY IN CONSUMER PRODUCTS, THAT COULD INCREASE BREAST CANCER RISK
July 21, 2021 List includes potential carcinogens that act by stimulating production of hormones that fuel breast tumors. Every day, people are exposed to a variety of synthetic chemicals through the products they use or the food they eat. For many of these chemicals, the health effects are unknown. Now a new study shows that several hundred common chemicals, including pesticides, ingredients in consumer products, food additives, and drinking water contaminants, could increase the risk of breast cancer by causing cells in breast tissue to produce more of the hormones estrogen or progesterone.

Much of the smell comes from plastics and materials used inside the car, from the steering wheel to the dashboard to the carpets — parts often made with chemicals including flame retardants, plasticizers and other chemicals that can give off gas or leach into the environment. The Ecology Centre, a Michigan-based environmental group, tested components in the interiors of 200 new-model cars for toxic chemicals including bromine, chlorine, lead and other heavy metals. The chemicals "can be harmful when inhaled or ingested and may lead to severe health impacts such as birth defects, learning disabilities and cancer," the report notes.

TURI GRANT PROJECTS AWARDED IN 2021

TURI awarded $177,500 in grants to reduce the use of PFAS in manufacturing, firefighting gear and consumer products; solvents in manufacturing, auto shops and dry cleaning; and toxics in personal care products. TURI awarded the grants to: Industry, Small Businesses, & Community Groups. Toxins eliminated included: n-propyl bromide, trichloroethylene (TCE), toluene, methanol, acetone and perchloroethylene (perc), methylene chloride, per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) surfactants. Community Action Works and Clean Water Fund of Boston, will provide workshops and resources to community members about PFAS contamination in drinking water and other sources. Nantucket PFAS Action Group will work with firefighters to replace firefighter gear containing PFAS, study the impacts of this replacement and educate firefighters about PFAS and safer alternatives. Silent Spring Institute of Newton and Resilient Sisterhood Project of Boston will use social media to share information about toxic chemicals in personal care products marketed to Black women. These chemicals – including phthalates, parabens, phenols and antimicrobials – are associated with a broad range of health effects, including endocrine disruption, asthma & cancer.
